Continuous evaluations ensure quality of any product or activity, including research. National funding bodies such as the Swiss National Science Foundation, the German Research Foundation, the National Institute for Health and Care Research in the United Kingdom, and the National Institutes of Health in the United States are the major funder of clinical, public health, social care and translational research. In addition to the research results themselves, this includes the evaluation of institutions and their researchers supported by state funds. Read the full article now available online in which Prof. Thomas F. Lüscher comments on the opportunities and limitations of evaluation processes of researchers and universities alike.
