Quantum Magnetocardiography as a new tool for the detection of cardiomyopathy
Cardiomyopathies are an important and often challenging group of cardiovascular diseases, as timely diagnosis is essential to guide appropriate treatment and prevent serious complications. A new prospective study, co-authored by Prof. Thomas F. Lüscher and published in the Journal of the American College of Cardiology: Heart Failure, highlights the potential of magnetocardiography (MCG) as a rapid and non-invasive screening tool for cardiomyopathy. In a cohort of 330 participants, MCG demonstrated high diagnostic accuracy, with 94.7% sensitivity and 98.5% specificity for detecting cardiomyopathy. The results were also highly reproducible, suggesting that MCG could help identify patients who are most likely to benefit from advanced cardiac imaging and thereby support a faster and more efficient diagnostic pathway.
