Sudden Cardiac Death of an Unusual Kind: Spontaneous Coronary Artery Dissection in Young Women

ATVB-editorial

Acute coronary syndromes (ACS) comprise a wide spectrum of cardiac/coronary conditions with Takotsubo syndromes and spontaneous coronary artery dissection (SCAD) primarily affecting elderly and young women, respectively. A recent study identified SCAD and myocardial infarction with nonobstructed coronary arteries (MINOCA) as rare causes of sudden cardiac death, with SCAD victims more frequently representing females. Full study results along with an editorial of Prof. Lüscher are now available via ahajournals.org.
