Academic Excellence Fellowship for Dr. Candela Diaz Canestro
Dr. Candela Diaz Canestro received the «Academic Excellence Fellowship» from the UZH Fund for the Promotion of Early-Career Researchers. Her research focuses on the effects of a specific β3-adrenergic receptor agonist in the prevention and treatment of acute ischemic stroke. Her work integrates fundamental and clinical research to identify effective molecular targets and interventions aimed at optimizing cardiovascular and cerebrovascular health. The awarded project seeks to enhance the understanding of communication between the brain and brown as well as beige adipose tissue, paving the way for new therapeutic approaches to treat cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases such as acute ischemic stroke.
