Artificial intelligence in cardiovascular pharmacotherapy: applications and perspectives

Recent advancements in artificial intelligence (AI) hold promise to enhance cardiovascular pharmacotherapy by optimising drug selection, forecasting therapeutic effectiveness and adverse reactions, and ultimately improving patient outcomes. Utilizing approaches such as machine learning and in silico modeling, AI can help identify patient groups most likely to benefit from specific therapies, accelerate the discovery of new drugs, and lower associated costs. These computational techniques also aid in detecting drug interactions and customising treatments using real-world data, thereby promoting personalised care.

A recent review article co-authored by Prof. Thomas F. Lüscher provides a comprehensive overview of the latest applications of AI in cardiovascular pharmacotherapy, highlighting its potential to inform treatment decisions, improve clinical trial design, and advance drug development.
